Campfire (2.5D Animation)

Here’s a 2.5D animation I made in 2022 for uni.
The task was to think of something where you can animate at least 2 elements in an otherwise still picture. I chose a campfire scene, with a forest, some mountains and birds in the background, while in the foreground there’s the fire.
We had to photograph at least 2 photos ourselves, whereas the rest could be taken from the internet. I photographed the red Rucksack and the pile of wood underneath the fire. The rest are images from Unsplash or Pexels, the fire is from a free to use video. (See youtube description for credits.)
Once the composition in photoshop was done, we had to animate it in After Effects. Apart from the already animated fire, I animated the owl (yea, I know, the animation doesn’t look that good, but flying animation is harder than you’d think) and the birds in the background. As well as added lights around the fire, so it looks more realistic.
